The second edition of the "Power of the Baltic" grant program starts in Łeba

The "Power of the Baltic" program is one of the social initiatives Baltic Power is implementing in the area adjacent to the first Polish offshore wind farm currently under construction in the Baltic Sea. The farm is being built between Łeba and Choczewo, approximately 23 km from the coast. In May 2025, the Baltic Power service base was officially launched in Łeba, supporting the offshore construction, ensuring coordination and safety of all work. After the farm's construction is completed in 2026, the base will serve as a service and operations center for the 76 offshore wind turbines for the next 25-30 years. Service crews will be stationed in the port of Łeba to ensure its trouble-free and safe operation. Ultimately, the base in Łeba will employ nearly 100 people – both Baltic Power and companies providing services for the farm.

In the pilot edition of "Power of the Baltic," which concluded in June 2025, 19 applications were submitted. Funding was awarded to 12 projects, totaling PLN 150,000.

The ORLEN Foundation for Pomerania joined the group of organizers of the second edition of the program, which allowed for an increase in the available budget to PLN 230,000.

We are committed to ensuring that our presence in the region brings real and long-term benefits to residents. The 'Power of the Baltic' program is an example of partnership based on trust and shared commitment to developing local initiatives. By collaborating with Baltic Power, we can jointly respond to the needs of the Łeba community by supporting projects that strengthen social ties, develop education and culture, and build local identity," says Anna Oczoś, President of the ORLEN Foundation for Pomerania .

The “Power of the Baltic” program is addressed to:

  • non-governmental and social organizations based in Łeba,

  • local government institutions and organizational units of the Municipality of Łeba,

  • groups of residents operating through authorized entities,

  • other institutions working for the public good in Łeba.

Representatives of the local community can count on funding for projects that bring social, educational or cultural benefits.

"We will be present in Łeba, where the Baltic Power service base is now fully operational, for at least another 25 years. Therefore, we plan and implement our activities to address the needs of the local community, supporting initiatives that are valuable to residents. The addition of another partner to the program, the ORLEN Foundation for Pomerania, is the best proof that the Łeba community, which is driving this initiative with its ideas and work, is doing a truly good job, " says Krzysztof Bukowski, Communications and Community Relations Manager at Baltic Power.

The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, a joint venture between ORLEN and Northland Power, is the most advanced offshore wind energy project in Poland and the only one currently in the offshore construction phase. Advanced work is currently underway both onshore and offshore, with the project having successfully installed its first wind turbines. Generating approximately 4,000 GWh of emission-free electricity annually, it will be able to meet approximately 3% of the country's energy demand.

The ORLEN for Pomerania Foundation, established in 2015, actively supports the region's social and economic development by implementing projects aligned with the ORLEN Group's sustainable development strategy. In Łeba, the Foundation focuses on activities that benefit the local community, improve the quality of life of residents, and support the development of infrastructure and safety. The total value of the ORLEN for Pomerania Foundation's support in Łeba between 2023 and 2025 was PLN 1.2 million.
