Live in the former residence of a famous film director. Surf Villa is a one-of-a-kind place

Seaside resorts offer numerous places to stay. Cottages, hotels, agritourism farms, campsites, and private lodgings. Most of them don't stand out in any way. Some are more luxurious than others. However, there are some that have a unique atmosphere, though it takes time to recognize it. Surf Villa in Łeba definitely falls into the latter category. It's supposedly a guesthouse, supposedly a villa, but in reality, it's more of a home with a soul than a traditional accommodation. It's conveniently located for guests. On the one hand, it's close to the center of Łeba, on the other, in a quieter, more intimate part of town. This is important because Łeba can be noisy and hectic in high season. But here, a few minutes' walk from the main traffic, it suddenly becomes quieter, more idyllic, and homey...

Comfort and surfer style

The Surf Villa building itself has been tastefully renovated – without excessive luxury or opulence, but with an emphasis on comfort and a touch of surf style. Wooden accents, bright interiors, and a beautiful garden, perfect for catching your breath after a long day of sunbathing. All of this creates a distinct atmosphere, unlike the usual mass tourism. At times, you might feel as if the world has slowed down… All of this perfectly harmonizes with Łeba itself. This small town isn't just about the beach, the multitude of tourists, and ice cream on the promenade. It's also home to breathtaking natural beauty: Słowiński National Park, the famous shifting sand dunes, Łebsko and Sarbsko lakes, as well as fantastic cycling routes that can surprise you with stunning views.

This proximity to nature perfectly complements the character of the Surf Villa. It's not a facility that tries to pretend to be a modern hotel, but rather a place that offers space to relax, gain perspective, and truly breathe, something that's hard to find in, say, a large seaside resort.

The villa's cinematic past

Surf Villa is not only a beautiful and comfortable place to stay during your stay in Łeba. The house has an incredibly interesting… artistic history. It was once the summer residence of one of Poland's most popular directors, screenwriters, and filmmakers, Jerzy Skolimowski.

As early as the 1960s, Skolimowski co-created a new film language, departing from classical narrative. From the outset, the artist focused on a more personal, somewhat experimental method of storytelling. Films such as "Rysopis" (Identification Number) and "Bariera" (Barrier), which brought him international acclaim, remain important benchmarks in Polish cinema. The director built his career in various parts of the world, yet he returned to places where he could relax and gather his thoughts. It's possible that the Surf Villa was once such a place .

There's no doubt that seaside Łeba, with its changing landscape, wind, and the harsh Baltic Sea, stimulates creative imagination. Just think about it… A charming house nestled near the sea, the surrounding silence, and the magnificent nature – all this could have had as powerful an impact on the senses as a film set. Did the artist create any of his works while staying at his summer residence? Or perhaps he came up with an interesting idea that he later implemented? It's unknown, but this touch of mystery only adds to the Surf Villa's charm and captures the imagination of those who visit...
