Thanks to the funding, 20 seniors from Łeba – including those particularly at risk of social exclusion – have gained access to free, individually tailored rehabilitation treatments. The three-week cycle of treatments is being conducted at the center in Łeba, which has prepared a special offer for program participants.
The project launched on February 10, 2025. Most participants have already benefited from the full package of therapeutic treatments, and additional seniors will be able to participate in the classes in May. The initiative will culminate in an educational meeting for all beneficiaries, during which experts will present health-promoting recommendations that support the daily functioning of older adults.
" This project proves that properly targeted financial support can truly improve the lives of residents. We are pleased to be among the first beneficiaries to be able to practically leverage the potential of the "Power of the Baltic" program and, together with our partners, address the needs of seniors ," emphasizes Lech Urbowski, Director of the Łeba – Błękitna Kraina Local Tourist Organization.

"A Cheerful and Healthy Senior" is one of 12 projects that received support under the first edition of the "Power of the Baltic" grant program. The program is an initiative of Baltic Power – a joint project of ORLEN and Northland Power – implementing the construction of the first offshore wind farm in Polish waters of the Baltic Sea. Łeba will be the farm's service base, which will serve as Baltic Power's home port for up to 30 years.
The budget for the pilot edition of the "Power of the Baltic" program was PLN 150,000. In response to the September call for proposals, 19 local initiatives were submitted, each of which was assessed for compliance with the program's goals and values. Ultimately, 12 projects supporting social, educational, environmental, and cultural initiatives were selected. Another edition of the local grant program is planned.
"The Power of the Baltic Sea" is not the only local community support program implemented by Baltic Power. The company is also involved in the "Choczewo. Commune Powered by Wind" program for social initiatives in the Choczewo Commune, the location where the farm's onshore substation and cable connection are being built. This program is implemented in collaboration with other offshore wind farm developers.
The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, a joint project of ORLEN and Northland Power, is the most advanced offshore wind project in Poland and the first to reach the construction phase. Installation of foundations and transition elements offshore is currently underway, while an onshore substation and cable trays are being constructed onshore. Work is progressing according to schedule, which assumes that the farm will contribute approximately 1.2 GW of capacity to the national energy system by 2026. It will also be one of the first farms in the world with 15 MW wind turbines each. Baltic Power will meet approximately 3% of Poland's current energy demand, thereby reducing domestic CO2 emissions by approximately 2.8 million tons per year compared to production from conventional sources.
